Zipping through the trees...Tarzan, eat your heart out

WHAT A TRIP!!!! Oh, this is a gas. SJ be damned, this is what I came here for.... This is one of the smaller operations, only 11 ziplines, but they start off with a 30 minute ride on a ski-like gondola through the treetops. As we waited at the top of the gondola for the support crew to bring us rain gear, Rain Forest, remember, the clouds took mercy on us and parted for a great display of the Arenal Valcano, complete with smoke trailing out. Then.... The first line was only about 350 meters long....but it was 175 meters off the ground at the mid point. We moved deeper into the jungle, Uri, one of our bilingual guides (funny how so many people in foreign countries learn English, and so few of us learn a foreign language) told us after the second line we "can't go back now". Cause for thought....the next zip was 700 meters and the second fastest on the course. I gave the other guide, Marcus, my camera and he video'd me coming in at the end of the run. Very Cool! Finally we were down to the last run... 900 meters, over half a mile, nearly a kilometer, 45 to 55 mph in the middle, "try not to let the wind turn you sideways..." Oh Yeah, baby! Uri video'd this run from the line itself, can't wait to find a place to upload it. Got back to the resort just at dark. I'd forgotten about dark in the tropics...it's light...then it's not. Not much drawing it out. Explored the Tabacon Resort Spa, a 101 -104 degree river with a spa built around it. You literally can't see the river for the trees. But that's another post. :-)
